Why fancy text works on Instagram
Instagram stores your bio and captions as plain text and draws them with the phone’s own font. A styled letter is a separate Unicode character, so it keeps its look in the app, in notifications and on the web. Your username is different: Instagram allows only letters, numbers, periods and underscores there, so fancy text belongs in the name field, the bio, captions, comments and story text.
How to paste fancy text into Instagram
iPhone
- Tap a style above. A “Copied” note appears.
- Open Instagram, go to your profile, tap Edit profile and tap Name or Bio.
- Touch and hold the text field, tap Paste, then save.
Android
- Tap a style above to copy it.
- Open Instagram, go to your profile, tap Edit profile and tap Name or Bio.
- Long-press the text field, choose Paste, then save.
Opened this page inside Instagram? Some in-app browsers block copying. If nothing is copied, a box opens with the text selected: long-press it and choose Copy, or open the page in Safari or Chrome.
Tips for Instagram
- Put the fancy part in your Name and keep the username plain, so people can still find you.
- Fancy letters can count double, and the bio holds 150 characters. Check long bios in the character counter.
