What Tattoo text is
Tattoo lettering mostly comes down to two families: blackletter (Old English) for bold, dark pieces and script for flowing names. This page puts both first, with bold versions that hold up at small sizes, plus outline and small caps for minimal work. They are Unicode characters, so you can paste the preview into a message to your artist. Treat it as a sketch, not a stencil: the artist draws the final letters.
Unicode 3.1 brought these characters, and the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block is where the Bold gothic alphabet comes from. There are no gaps in the Bold gothic alphabet, so every letter comes from the same run. Unicode has no Bold gothic form for 0โ9, so they come out as normal characters. Built-in fonts on all major systems cover it, so it rarely turns into boxes. Marks like รฉ and รง survive, so โCafรฉ Zoรซโ turns into ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฬ ๐ ๐๐ฬ.
