What Outline text is
Double-struck letters started as a blackboard trick: teachers drew the letters for number sets with a doubled stroke because chalk canโt do bold. Mathematicians kept the look, and Unicode encoded it. Seven capitals (โ โ โ โ โ โ โค) were added early because maths needed them first; the rest of the alphabet and the digits came later in the maths block, and the generator joins both.
Every Outline character comes from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, which Unicode added in version 3.1. The main run has 7 gaps, filled with characters that were encoded elsewhere: โ (U+2102), โ (U+210D), โ (U+2115), โ (U+2119), โ (U+211A), โ (U+211D), โค (U+2124). It is one of the safest styles: current iPhones, Android phones and Windows PCs draw it with their built-in fonts. Accents stay on: typing โCafรฉ Zoรซโ gives โ๐๐๐ฬ โค๐ ๐ฬ.
