Upside down text generator
What Upside down text is
There is no upside-down alphabet in Unicode. The trick is to find, for each letter, another character that looks like it turned 180°: ɐ for a, ǝ for e, ʇ for t, many of them phonetic symbols. Then the whole line is reversed. A few capitals have no close match and stay similar to the original. Line breaks are kept, so each line flips on its own.
The Upside down letters live in the IPA Extensions block of Unicode, part of the standard since version 5.2. Most phones and computers show this style, but older Android versions and some apps may miss a few characters. There is no room for accent marks in this style, so accented letters stay plain: “Café Zoë” becomes ëoZ éɟɐƆ.

Where to use Upside down text
Upside-down text is a joke format: a surprise comment, a caption for a photo taken upside down, a playful name. It is hard to read, so don’t use it for anything people need to understand quickly.

Questions people ask
How do I flip text upside down?
Type it above and copy the upside down row. The generator swaps each letter for a turned look-alike and reverses the order.
Why do some upside-down letters look slightly off?
They are real characters from other alphabets and phonetic sets that only resemble turned letters. For some capitals no close match exists, so the result is an approximation.
Will Upside down text show on every phone?
On most. Current iPhones and PCs show it; some older Android phones may show a box for one or two characters.
Does Upside down text work with accents?
Not fully. Accented letters stay plain in this style, for example ëoZ éɟɐƆ. Bold, italic and cursive keep accents.
Can I use Upside down text on Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp?
Yes: in names, bios, captions and messages. Usernames are stricter, and most apps allow only plain letters, numbers, dots and underscores there. The fancy text generator lists the limits we checked.
