What Glitch text is
Glitch text piles combining diacritical marks, the same kind of character that puts the accent on é, onto each letter. Fonts stack them above and below until the letters look corrupted. Unicode sets no limit on how many marks one letter can carry, so the effect has no ceiling, and the heavy level can spill into the lines around it. Our marks come only from the Combining Diacritical Marks block, which every font supports best.
The Glitch letters live in the Combining Diacritical Marks block of Unicode, part of the standard since version 4.1. Most phones and computers show this style, but older Android versions and some apps may miss a few characters. Accented letters keep their marks: “Café Zoë” becomes C̺̖͑̑a͖̱̲̾̿̊f̢̯̝̻ͪ̐͛͐ẹ̝̹́̿̑ͩͬ Ẕ̵̫̣ͨ̊ͬ̉o̻͙̖̎̀̄ͩë̺̼̰ͧ͌ͨ́.

Glitch text fits horror posts, gaming names and memes. Some apps trim long stacks of marks or count every mark as a character, so the light level is safest for names.

Zalgo is the internet name for text covered in stacked combining marks. It comes from a 2000s meme about a creature that corrupts everything it touches.
Why does glitch text use up my character limit?
Every mark is a separate character. A word with heavy glitch can be ten times longer than it looks, so check the counter before you paste it into a name.
Will Glitch text show on every phone?
On most. Current iPhones and PCs show it; some older Android phones may show a box for one or two characters.
Does Glitch text work with accents?
