What Bubble text is
Circled letters are from Enclosed Alphanumerics, a block that came to Unicode from East Asian character sets, where numbers in circles mark list items. White bubbles exist for capitals, small letters and digits. Black bubbles exist only as capitals, so your text comes out in upper case, with black circled digits borrowed from the Dingbats. Accented letters have no bubble version and stay plain.
The Bubble letters live in the Enclosed Alphanumerics block of Unicode, part of the standard since version 1.1. All Bubble letters sit in one continuous run, so nothing is borrowed from another block. The default fonts on iPhone, Android and Windows include these characters, so almost everyone sees them as intended. There is no room for accent marks in this style, so accented letters stay plain: “Café Zoë” becomes Ⓒⓐⓕé Ⓩⓞë.

Where to use Bubble text
Bubble letters are playful: good for a nickname, a short title or a list marker. They are wider than normal letters, so a long sentence quickly fills a line.

Questions people ask
How do I type letters in circles?
There is no key for them, so copy them here. In Microsoft Word you can type 24B6 and press Alt+X to get Ⓐ, but copying is quicker.
Why are black bubble letters always capitals?
Unicode only has black (negative) circled capital letters. There are no lowercase ones, so the generator uses capitals for every letter.
Will Bubble text show on every phone?
Yes, on practically all current devices. Only very old systems may show a box.
Does Bubble text work with accents?
Not fully. Accented letters stay plain in this style, for example Ⓒⓐⓕé Ⓩⓞë. Bold, italic and cursive keep accents.
Can I use Bubble text on Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp?
Yes: in names, bios, captions and messages. Usernames are stricter, and most apps allow only plain letters, numbers, dots and underscores there. The fancy text generator lists the limits we checked.
