What ✔ means and how it is used

✔ (U+2714) is the bold check mark from the Dingbats block. Many phones show it as the emoji ✔️; add the text variation selector (✔︎) to keep it black. Use it in bios and feature lists where the thin ✓ looks too light. It reads clearly at small sizes in to-do lists.

In Unicode, ✔ is code point U+2714 with the official name HEAVY CHECK MARK. It belongs to the Dingbats block and arrived with Unicode 1.1 in 1993.

Other words for it: check, checked, checkmark, done, heavy, mark, tick.

You will find it in our check marks, 32 symbols in all, together with ✓ ✗ ☑ ☐ ✘.
