What Ⓐ means and how it is used

Ⓐ is the circled capital A (U+24B6) from the Enclosed Alphanumerics block, and online it stands in for the anarchy symbol: an A inside an O, after Proudhon’s idea that anarchy is order. The sign spread with punk in the 1970s. Unicode has no dedicated anarchy character, so Ⓐ is the closest match; it works in bios and posts and takes the colour of your text.

In Unicode, Ⓐ is code point U+24B6 with the official name CIRCLED LATIN CAPITAL LETTER A. It belongs to the Enclosed Alphanumerics block and arrived with Unicode 1.1 in 1993.
