Accessibility

We want EmojiKite to work for everyone, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, or large text. We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we do
Every copy button has a name that screen readers read aloud, such as “Copy black heart suit ♥”, and confirms the copy in a spoken status message. All controls can be reached with the keyboard and have a visible focus outline. Buttons are at least 44 pixels high on touch screens.
Text keeps its contrast in both the light and the dark theme, colour is never the only way information is shown, and animations are switched off when your system asks for reduced motion. Pages work without JavaScript: the symbols stay on the page as text you can select.
Known limits
Fancy text is made of mathematical and other special characters. Screen readers often read it letter by letter or by character name, so we say this on the generator pages and suggest keeping important words, such as your name, in plain text. Symbols and kaomoji are read by their Unicode or CLDR names, which can be long. Some rare characters may show as an empty box if your device has no font for them.
Report a barrier
If something on EmojiKite does not work with your assistive technology, write to contact@emojikite.com with the page address and the tool you use. We reply and fix what we can.
